Top Ten Tuesday: Fictional Characters I’d Follow On Instagram

It’s time for Top Ten Tuesday! Thanks Jana from That Artsy Reader Girl for creating this meme.

This Week’s Topic: Characters I’d Follow On Instagram

Instead of planning this out, I’m going to freestyle the list and tweak it after. I feel like with top tens, your subconscious helps. It may seem hard if you actively think about it, but if you let your mind just wander and focus on it, it will most likely flow. Not always, but most of the time. I also noticed that this challenge didn’t state that they had to be characters from books alone. So I will add characters from movies and tv shows too. Enjoy!

  1. Aphrodite from House Of Night. I don’t think I even need to explain this. She’s sarcastic and full of life. Her posts will be as fancy as her lifestyle. Plus, the comments on her posts will be worth reading.
  2. Rory Gilmore from Gilmore Girls. I mean let’s start with the fact that she’s very introverted. She’s also a very avid reader. Think of how many bookstagram posts she’d post! I’d love to see her thoughts on books. I’d also love to see other posts from her.
  3. Stevie Rae from House of Night. She’s just such an adorable country bumpkin! I would imagine that her posts would just be so adorable! She’d have all the people she cares about in every post!
  4. Spike From Buffy The Vampire Slayer. For one, every post would be caption with something sarcastic and humorous. Secondly, well…. I would hope he’d post a lot of pictures of himself.
  5. Willow From Buffy The Vampire Slayer. She was just so quirky and full of optimism. It was infectious. She was not one to cross. I’d love to see all the posts she’d post. I’m sure most of them would be of her loved ones and herself and of nature.
  6. Loralei Gilmore from Gilmore Girls. This woman leads such a fast paced lifestyle. She lets her life be run by sarcastic humor and coffee. Imagine what her Instagram would be full of. Let’s just hope that she’d never ever post inappropriate pictures of Kirk just to make him squirm!
  7. Sookie St James from Gilmore Girls. She was a very famous chef in the show. I would imagine her posts would be filled with the foods she has made. I mean I know she’d post photos of her family too. I’d love to see them all.
  8. Rose Hathaway from Vampire Academy. I mean other than the fact that she’s definitely a book girlfriend (this is a thing that should be talked about more), she’s just amazing! She will be too busy protecting Lisssa to post too often, but the posts she makes would be more than worth looking at! I’d throw Dimitri in too, but he wouldn’t post. Let’s be honest.
  9. Michael Moscovitz from Princess Diaries. He’s a musician. He’s a deep thinker as well. I’d imagine that his posts would be full of clips of him singing/playing guitar and of nature. I also imagine that he’d have beautiful pictures of Mia and their beautiful family.
  10. Mia Thermopolis from Princess Diaries. I’d love to see her posts. I imagine they’d all be interesting in their own way. She’d probably post pictures of her food. Videos of the shows that her lovely Michael performs. Her children. You name it.

So, I’m not going to lie. This was harder than I thought it would be. I tried to freestyle it, but I forget sometimes I have ADHD. Needless to say I had to force myself to focus numerous times. I realize that there are multiples for the same show/book series. There would probably have been more from them if I didn’t have to narrow it down to 10. I regret nothing! I hope you enjoyed this! Please feel free to share your links so I can read your ten!

Top Ten Tuesday: Book Hangover

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme that was originally created by The Broke and the Bookish but was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.

This week’s topic: Books That Gave You A Hangover

I read a lot. It’s no Secret. But not every book I read sticks with me. When they do, I will most likely re-read them many times.

My picks include series. I count having a book hangover with a series as one because if I counted them individually all ten would go to the same series.

  1. Twisted World: Amazing trilogy! I found out later that the author has multiple series in this book and that wasn’t the first. I intend to read or listen to them all. This particular one takes place in Georgia. It’s awesome!
  2. Miss Peregrine’s Home For Peculiar Children: It’s an amazing series! I haven’t read the 4th and 5th book yet. I will. I own the first 4 in physical books and all 5 on audio. The movie was pretty incredible too!
  3. The Queen’s Poisoner: I can’t even begin to explain how intense and incredible this series is! It’s amazing!
  4. Stalking Jack The Ripper: I absolutely adore Audrey Rose. I’m sad there’s only four books in this series. I could have kept reading books in this series and not get tired! I felt like I became part of the story!
  5. The Golden Compass: This trilogy is deep. I read it for the first time in high school and it stuck with me. I fell in love with it! I wound up re-reading it recently.
  6. The Help: The first book starts out really cringy, but it gets really good about 1/4 of the way through. The rest of the trilogy is jam packed and emotionally involving. I loved it! Way more than I thought I would!
  7. Wake’s Dream: I think Solomon is the main reason I loved this series as much as I did. I mean all the characters are amazing and witty. They were vivid that it was hard to imagine that they were just characters in a novel.
  8. Shattered Dreams: This trilogy is so emotionally involving. I just can’t even begin to explain it. I got my fiance’s now ex sister-in-law into it. She devoured the entire trilogy in a very short time. So did I. It’s more impressive for her because she has children. (First book is free on all platforms I believe.)
  9. Dream Student: This series!!!! The girl’s dreams are vivid and clear. She can predict things before they happen. She uses it to help solve some very intense mysteries!
  10. House Of Night: Out of all the books and series, this one has stuck with me the most. I fell in love with all the characters. I’ve read most of the books in the series at least 2-3 times. And I can promise that I will read them all at least once more before its said and done.

Top Ten Tuesday: Changes In My Reading Life

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme that was originally created by The Broke and the Bookish but was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.

This Week: Changes In My Reading Life

Where do I begin? I’m not sure I can do this in a top ten format. I will try though. I have a lot of changes in my reading.

1. The amount of reading I do. I used to average about 50-60 books a year. I now read about 100 books a year. I am currently at 173 books this year. This is by far the biggest amount I’ve done ever. I’m quite proud of it.

2. Audiobooks. I feel that listening to audiobooks has really increased my reading. I’m able to read during times I couldn’t actually read now. Like when working out, cleaning, scrolling the web, playing games, etc. It has been so freeing. It’s also made me contemplate becoming a narrator myself.

3. Variety. I used to only read Young Adult fiction. I didn’t have a problem with other genres. I just stuck to what I knew. I also had a big tendency to reread other books rather than read new books. I read a variety of genres now. And I’m getting more comfortable with it every day.

4. My Reading Circle. I find that as time goes by, my reading circle expands. I talk to more and more people in the reading world. It’s amazing. I have attended a convention called Literary Love of Savannah this year and last. I can’t tell you how incredible it was. I’m going to be going next year as well.

I can’t think of anything else. These are the most important to me as it is. I may come back to this later and edit it, but I think these are good for now. I love reading. I love talking about books. I love being around others who love reading. Please feel free to show me your top ten! I’d love to see them all!

Top Ten Tuesdays: Character Traits

Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.

October 8: Character Traits I Love (submitted by Hannah @ Books Life and Other Oddities)

This is my first time doing this. I’m still learning and growing in the blogging world. This looks like a lot of fun though! Hope I do it justice!

1) Loyal: They stand by their beliefs and loved ones no matter what. They don’t sell out. No matter how tempting it is. Rose Hathaway is very loyal to Lissa Dragomir. Even when Lissa doesn’t really deserve it.

2) Passionate: It’s easier to get behind a character who is completely passionate and believes that they are doing the right thing. They tend to be the most persuasive. Zoey Redbird is passionate about making sure that the balance between good and evil stays strong. She’s passionate about making sure everybody is taken care of.

3) Self-Conscious: I know this sounds insane, but I really like reading about characters who don’t think that they are amazing. It makes it easier for me to connect with them. They jump through hurdles to get things accomplished. They tend to overcome the most obstacles too. Zoey Redbird doesn’t really think highly of herself. She overcomes many obstacles from challenges in the real world and the battle with herself doubts.

4) Honest: This is one trait I don’t get to see often. It’s very refreshing when I do see it. Don’t get me wrong. Most main characters are honest. It’s just they always hide something and it ALWAYS comes out in the end. Etc. They could have saved a lot of time had they just said what was going on up front. Aphrodite LaFont could be rude and hard to deal with, but the one thing you could count on was that she would always be honest with you.

5) Kind: There is beauty in kindness. I realize most characters are innately kind. My reference here is the ones that go above and beyond to be kind to others. Like Harry Potter with Luna Lovegood. People were nice to her, but he listened to her and made her feel important.

6) Sassy: It’s nice to have a character that’s heroic and inspirational. However, I like when they have a bit of a sassy flair about them too. One of the easiest examples of this is Buffy Summers. Another great example would be Rose Hathaway.

7) Independent: Don’t get me wrong here. Asking for help is needed and encouraged sometimes. But it’s just such a turn off seeing characters basically act like they can’t do anything without the help of others. Out of all of my favorite characters, Rose Hathwaway has to be the biggest one that fits here.

8) Brave: The real definition of bravery is being afraid of something and doing it anyways. Stevie Rae was afraid to come out with the truth about something she kept hidden. She knew that coming out about it was the right thing to do, so she did it.

9) Real: It’s hard to stay true to who you really are and what you really believe in when others around you don’t really feel the same way you do. Zoey Redbird was one of the only ones who wanted to stay true to her heritage after she changed.

10) Empathetic: This is my favorite trait of all. It ties in a few of my other traits as well. Kindness and passion. Zoey Redbird made a great leader of the Dark Daughters because she was empathetic to the wants and needs of everybody in her group. She heard everybody out, even when she didn’t agree with them.
