The Real Neat Blog Award

I was nominated for this by one of the most organized duo I know. I love their blog. nen & jen

Taken from Emer’s post:

The Origins of the Real Neat Blog Award

Before I answer the questions I did a little googling to try and find the origins of this award and the earliest reference I can find to it goes all the way back to 2014 and to a blog called Dear Kitty, Some Blog.

The award came about as a way to highlight bloggers that need more attention because of their awesome content on their blogs and the first logo ever created for the award is this one that I found on the same Dear Kitty, Some Blog page:

The Rules:

  • Display the Award Logo.
  • Thank the blogger who nominated you and post a link to their blog.
  • Answer the questions of the one who nominated you.
  • Nominate some bloggers.
  • Ask them seven questions.

Nen & Jen’s Questions:

What name have you always wanted to have, other than your own?
I’ve always connected strongly to the names Meredith and Natasha.

What is your favourite type of character?
I would have to say a strong sassy type character. I love the character Aphrodite in House Of Night. She can be a pain in the ass, but she’s honest and she’s loyal.

What holiday do you look forward to the most, every year?
Halloween. It’s my favorite holiday of the year. With all the real horrors we face every day, it’s nice to have something to pretend to be scared over instead.

What type of blog post do you enjoy writing the most?
I love writing book reviews the most. It helps me reflect on how I really feel about the book. It’s also nice to have to go back and read about the book.

If you could only read one book for the rest of your life, which would it be?
Oh this is a tough question! I guess I’d have to say Cold Sassy Tree by Olive Ann Byrnes

If you could interview any author, who would you choose?
I’d have to say Janet Evanovich. I have so many questions about her writing and her life. I especially have many questions about her Plum series!

The cutest animal in the world is….

I Nominate:

The Geekish Brunette
Mom’s Book Collection
Kitty Marie’s Reading Corner
Shalini’s Books & Reviews
Life’s Fine Whine
Alice In Bookland
Traveling Trailer Trash

My Questions:
What book world would you willingly live in for the rest of your life?
What is a book that stuck with you since you read it?
What is a series that you’ve loved and could read more than once and not get sick of?
What author do you want to meet the most?
What are some characters you wish weren’t fictional?
What’s your favorite go to book snack?
Where is your favorite place to read?

Depression Sets In

This week and last have been really rough for me. I’ve had a lot of stress in my personal life. I haven’t really felt motivated or inspired at all. All I’ve wanted to do is lay down and give up. Luckily, I have people who care about me in my life. That helps. Even when they don’t know something is wrong. Just thinking about them helps.

I will get back in gear starting Monday. I have been doing nothing but reading. Which has been amazing, but I know I need to get back into productivity. Depression and trying to adjust to a new schedule have been intense to say the least.

I posted a random thing I found on Facebook. My birthday is in August and I’ve been putting some serious thought into doing this. I mean I’ll make an exception for my blog posts, but other than that, I’ll be off social media.

Thank you all in advance for being so very understanding. I know that it would be easier to schedule posts, but I don’t really do well with scheduling posts. I always forget to go in and share. I wish there was a way you can just automatically post it to your social media when it posts. But honestly, in this case, there was no material to schedule. I do have some poems I can post for the rest of the week if anybody wants me to. I’ll also post my reviews like I always do.

Dewey’s 24-Hour Readathon: Opening Survey

Opening Survey!

1) What fine part of the world are you reading from today?

I’m from Georgia (United States)
2) Which book in your stack are you most looking forward to?

This is a hard choice for me. I’m torn between saying I’m looking most to making a dent in Big Little Lies Liane Moriarty
3) Which snack are you most looking forward to?

I never really plan snacks, but I have this delicious bag of peanut brittle I love to randomly munch on. So maybe that!
4) Tell us a little something about yourself!

My name is Nicole (Willow Star Serenity). I am 33 years old. I was born and raised in Georgia. I love reading and writing. I’ve recently found that I love drawing as well. I run two blogs. Willow Writes And Reads and Willow Writes And Reads Promotions. I love them both!
5) If you participated in the last read-a-thon, what’s one thing you’ll do different today? If this is your first read-a-thon, what are you most looking forward to?

I’ll be better with time management this time around. I kind of piddled around the last time around.

Small Announcement

I made some minor adjustments to my blog schedule. Mostly it is just wording, but there are some things that I moved around a bit. I removed Willow’s Book Chat for now. I didn’t want to leave anybody hanging for weeks that I blanked out a topic to talk about. I replaced it with a “Free Day” blog to talk about anything and everything I’m interested in. Here’s the link to check out the new blog schedule:

I also won’t be posting anything for the rest of the week with the exception of book reviews and book tags. If I’m tagged in anything. I just got a new job and I have some things I need to get in preparation. I have a lot of paperwork and a drug test. It’ll be fun. I’m excited. I’ll resume blogs on Monday. I may do a Reading Wrap-Up on Sunday. I haven’t decided yet. If that’s something you want to see, let me know!

I’ll also be participating in Dewey’s 24 Hour Readathon this Saturday! Anybody else do readathons? Let me know if you’re joining so I can follow your progress! I applied to be a moderator of the event for an hour. I haven’t heard anything back, so we’ll see.

Happy reading everybody!

Happy Birthday Audiobook Obsession

All week long I’ve been racking my brain to figure out the best kind of post to honor Audiobook Obsession for their first birthday! I mean these ladies put in a lot of work to make these tours and reviews possible. They are amazing, intelligent, and highly organized. So they deserve a high praise anyways. Especially on special days!

Then it hit me. The best way to honor their birthday is to share my own personal story. I can’t tell you how long I’ve worked with AO. I can’t even tell you how I came to join it. What I can tell you is that it’s one of the best decisions I’ve ever made.

Through AO, I discovered one of my favorite narrators of all time. Her name is Sarah Puckett. She’s incredibly talented and incredibly humble about it. I’ve also branched out and listened to books I’d of never listened to before. And that’s not evening mentioning that I got to meet two of the sweetest ladies of all times! They are amazing and I will happily work with them as long as they will let me.

If you love listening to audiobooks as much as I do, I would seriously consider giving them a chance. You’ll discover new authors and narrators. You’ll discover a great community that treats you like family. They have a review group and a tour group! I’m happily an active member of both.

Happy birthday Audiobook Obsession! I’m proud to be a part of your beautiful community. Krystyn and Brandie are some of the hardest workers I know and I will always happily consider myself a part of their team and community!

Dewey’s 24-Hour Readathon

So, I’m not sure how many of you participate in readathons. I do. I absolutely love them. It’s how I get my rush. Well those and reading sprints. But I’m getting off topic! There’s a fabulous readathon sponsored by Dewey’s . Instead of being held from 8 AM to 8 AM like it normally is, they are doing it from 8 PM to 8 PM. I’m excited for this, but I’m so nervous too. I haven’t even gotten a reading list together! Anybody else participating? If so, please let me know! Tell me what your TBR pile is and what you look most forward to. I know I’m looking forward to the reading and interaction the most! To those joining the readathon and to all my fellow book lovers, happy reading!!!!!
