Top Ten Tuesdays: Questions To My Favorite Authors

It’s time for Top Ten Tuesday! Thanks Jana from That Artsy Reader Girl for creating this meme.

This Week’s Topic: Questions I Would Ask My Favorite Authors

This is to authors in general. If you’re an author, and you read this, I would love to see your answers. If you’d like, I can post your answers in a blog as well as some links to your books and yourself. Just email willowwritesandreads@gmail.com. Enjoy!

  2. What was the hardest? Why did you find it hard?
  3. What did you do when you got stuck while writing?
  4. What authors did you draw inspiration from when writing?
  5. What character has stuck with you even after finishing the book?
  6. Do you listen to music when writing?

  1. 1. I have only written one so far (Complications of Pi), but it was easier than my current project.
    2. My current one Dream Escape. I have the idea of what I want, but the guts are giving me issues.
    3. I will let you know as I am still trying to work my way through it.
    4. I didn’t really draw inspiration from any authors. I have pulled on encouragement from several author friends of mine though along with friends and new readers.
    5. Right now probably Peyton. She will probably always stick with me.
    6. Yes I listen to music. Depends on my mood or the scene I am writing on. It is most instrumental. I listen to Lindsey Sterling, Christmas music, gamer music, jazz, etc…
    7. Hours/day? That is very bleak right now. I need to find my push to get this done.
    8. Ideas? I am currently on book one of either a single or a short series and book one of a longer series that could easily go 10 books or more. Plus I have an idea for a two book one, another single (unless it develops into more), and more on my nerdy girls I am developing. Oh and a long ass anthology with different volumes, and two shirts for other anthologies. Is that enough?
    9. Snacks while writing? Not really a snacker while eating, but I do sometimes sit to write about the same time as meals if I go somewhere to write.
    10. Advice- you have to push back all the doubt, all the insecurities, and tell it to sit down and take a number and do it. Nothing is perfect at first, second, or frankly ever. But, things can be edited and changed. Believe in yourself and if you need someone else to, I believe in you. Find people who trust to tell you the truth (usually not your closest friends) and get feedback from. Critiques not criticism as there is a difference. Mostly, keep it fun and do it for yourself or else it won’t be enjoyable.
