Evan has never had a life of his own. He was taken from an orphanage at a young age and trained to be a government assassin. After years of doing whatever the government had him do, he retired from missions and went rogue. His mission became to help those who needed help. Everything was going great until the government decided that he was better off dead. Since then, Evan has been on the run juggling between helping people and fighting for his life. Having enough, he decides to take care of it once and for all and go after the president himself.
I have really invested in this story. I’m borderline obsessed. Evan is the perfect antihero. He’s dark and broody, but he has a compassionate side. His handler made sure of that. I’ve made references that compared him to the Hitman. I’m not sure it’s fully accurate, but the action in the book is similar in my opinion. I wound up buying all in audio after I sampled the first one because the narrator did such a fantastic job. I can’t even begin to explain how impressed I was! I can’t wait to listen to the next book in the series!
The biggest thing I didn’t care about this book is that it has a tendency to jump from one thing to another without major warning. This could be a personal issue. Especially since I have not experienced any other problems in the book or the series other than that. I am planning on going back and listening to these again one day. If I’m being honest, I may listen to them multiple times. They are just that good. They are full of intense action and drama.
This book was narrated by Scott Brick. I’m almost fully certain that he narrated the rest of the series as well. I can only hope that he narrates the next book and the rest of the series too. He just has this voice that makes the intense more intense. The thrilling more thrilling. It’s clever though. He does it in a way that is soothing. It’s really hard to explain that. It’s something people would have to hear to understand.
I really enjoyed this book. It is the fourth book in a series so I recommend the first three be read first to fully understand everything. When I first started this series, I thought it would be a complete bore. I thought I’d have to struggle through the book and pray that I retained any of it. I was completely wrong. Not only did I fully enjoy the first book, but I’ve also been hooked since. I won’t lie, it did take a bit to get into first. But the hook sunk deep! I can’t wait to read the rest of the series!
Thank you for Reading!
