Cheyenne worked with Development Initiative Network Malawi to train 12 women in rural Chikwawa to become tailors and provide organic farm training, seeds, equipment, and rent for two plots of farmland for 54 community members.
Gabriela volunteered with Socios En Salud to support TB Móvil, a vehicle with state-of-the-art technology to predict the presence of tuberculosis. In just six months, TB Móvil performed more than 22,000 chest x-rays and identified more than 100 people with TB so they could start timely treatment.
With local partners, David helped open two refugee-run businesses in Athens Layali Hair Salon and Layali Shop (an artisan craft shop). The businesses provide purpose and economic empowerment to refugees and show locals refugees’ positive contributions to the community.
Maggie volunteered with SEED Madagascar to help 166 women form a weaver’s association, uniting traditional reed weavers to ensure they’re receiving fair compensation. The project also provides training to help them improve their business skills and ultimately, their livelihoods.
Volunteering with Biosphere Foundation, Jakelynn helped educate 89 students at a local elementary school in northwest Bali on sustainable waste management.
The rural village of Nersa in India struggles with access to clean water. A devastating monsoon in 2019 damaged their sole clean-water pipe. Miles, who just completed his master’s in biological and environmental science, will collaborate with locals to build a better pipeline.
